Something for your updo
"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe."
We have all heard of this charming rhyme for the bride to be. Typically these are small treasure tokens of good luck for the bride to carry with her on her wedding day given to her by loved ones.
Something old represents continuity; something new offers hopefulness and cheerfulness for the future; some borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue represents love, purity, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for fortune, luck, and prosperity.
Well what can be better than adding in these small tokens into your updo? It even already rhymes with the original poem!
Hair accessories are such a fun way to add bling and a little more texture to your style. They pair well with the veil, but can also be added in later in the night once your veil is removed.
Many articles on the internet tell you how to incorporate these items into your wedding, such as a blue stitch on your dress, or a pendant wrapped around your bridal bouquet. There are also many DIY brides, so I say get creative and find a way to add these pendants or charms into a hair pin that will show off throughout your photos, and all night long!
When looking to purchase a hair piece, keep in mind that by adding a small pop of color with the blue, it can really bring your style to life!
Sometimes a bride does not know what type of hair piece would look good, or even realize they may want one. This is yet another reason why trials are important, and during your service I will help walk you through the possible placements and styles of accessories. I can even order one for you based on what we are looking for, and have it available for you come your wedding day!
Stay gorgeous my brides, until next time!
